Before I started writing (again), I enjoyed scrapbooking and put together four beautiful scrapbooks. Then the writing bug kicked in—fortunately around the time I discovered Facebook. Now I use Facebook and Instagram to record my life in pictures. Because I love sharing pictures, I thought it’d be fun to give you a history of my writing journey via snapshots.

My parents started reading to me from the time I was a baby. My mom is an avid reader and worked at the public library for most of my childhood. There was never a scarcity of books in my childhood home!

While I enjoyed playing outdoors as a child, I often got distracted by a good book, as you can see here. If you couldn’t find me running in the sprinklers or climbing our cherry tree, I was probably in my room, buried in a book.

I was one of those weird kids who loved writing book reports, and around fourth grade I discovered the typewriter! I remember feeling so grown up sitting down and typing away. Notice the mug—you’ll still see me in this pose today, except a few years older and typing on a laptop.

This is me as a sixth grader. I was this age when I began writing the first version of my novel, Never Let Go. Refer to my Welcome page to read the story of what initially gave me the plot for my first novel. (Hint: it has to do with a certain English rock band).

By the time I graduated high school, I’d outgrown my obsession with English rock bands, so the story I’d worked tirelessly on as a young teenager slipped onto the backburner, along with my passion for fiction writing. I went on to major in business administration, aiming to become an accountant like my number-loving dad.

As you can see, I never lost my quirky, creative side once I moved to college. In fact, the writer in me returned after the heartbreaking end of my first relationship. That summer I spent many nights typing away on my computer typewriter, revisiting the same story from years before and adding on to it.

Life kept me busy after college with a young family and a demanding day job, but in 2011 – after devouring the Twilight series – I got a strong urge to write again. The story which originated in the mind of an 11-year-old girl was resurrected once again. Thus began my current writing journey. Read more in my Testimony.

My husband took me to London for our 15th wedding anniversary. This was also a research trip, since my books are set in London. In this photo, we’re attending a performance of Pride and Prejudice at Regent Park’s Open Air Theatre. It was rained out halfway through! (This is mentioned in my first book, Never Let Go).

My son was my assistant at an author event in Los Angeles in July 2017. I feel blessed to have the support of my family as I pursue my dream.

Anne Carol grew up in the 1980’s, reading, writing, and listening to English rock bands. She continues to have one foot in the past, listening to classic alternative rock and watching old sitcoms. Anne writes about swoony musicians and, while she keeps a thread of hope in her emotion-packed stories, she doesn’t shy away from tough subject matter. When she’s not writing, Anne enjoys reading, traveling, hanging out with friends, wine tasting, and spending time with her husband and two teenage sons. She resides in Northern California, where most evenings you can find her curled up in front of a Hallmark movie with red wine and dark chocolate.
